South America
Stunning natural wonders and the lasting legacy of the Inca Empire
The most unified region in the world
With its 12 countries, South America is arguably the most unified region on the planet: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay and Venezuela. The historical connections, which were united by the Spanish crown after many scattered pre-Columbian civilizations (with the exception of Brazil and Guyana), were later consolidated through sports activities and economic cooperation among the new established countries.
The numerous attractions of South America make it challenging to select the favorite one.
The scope of natural wonders is impressive: The Andes – the world’s longest mountain range, stretching from north to south; Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia – the world’s largest salt flat; The Galapagos Islands inspired Darwin’s theory of evolution; Amazon rainforest – the world’s largest tropical rainforest.
South America and its living heritage
I’m deeply fascinated by the legacy of the Inca Empire, which still shapes so much of South American culture. I love how the continent lives through its football passion and its music, from cumbia and vallenato in the north to Argentine tango in the south. And the food; from Uruguayan asado to Peru’s world-class cuisine, South America is one of the leading culinary destinations in the world.
My South America travelling adventures, working, living and doing business have converted me into a good connoisseur of Latin culture.
Despite the fact that I have already visited all the countries in the region, there are still many places and territories that are on my bucket list.
