My travels in the 2010s
Traveling while working and having a family – 40 countries visited
Once my children were old enough for safe travel, I began a new chapter, family traveling, that defined much of my 2010s travel. Since 2011, I have organized numerous family vacations with my partner and our children. Nevertheless, solo trips and traveling with my partner were also important.
The dynamics of family traveling, as well as our priorities and goals, naturally changed. I prioritized choosing more secure countries that offer easier logistics, comfortable accommodations, and more refined dining experiences.
Being in the company of children frequently results in receiving distinct attention, visiting attractions that are more kids-friendly, and meeting diverse people or families.
In 2010s I was based most of the time in Panama. I used the opportunity to visit Caribbean Islands, some new parts of the USA (Hawaii) and strengthen the links with Latin American cultures, businesswise and personal wise.
Exploring various regions of the world from my base in Central America proved to be quite challenging due to the high costs associated with logistics and my limited financial resources. In the meantime, I decided to prepare myself for future travels by improving my proficiency in certain languages.
I identified Russian and French as key languages that would enhance my communication in Central Asia and former French colonies of Africa. I began learning both languages through online platforms while waiting for the right time to visit these regions.
My 2010s travel adventures ended with visits to 40 new countries, a total similar to previous decades.
